Starfish Early Childhood Education Centers Will Have a Modified Closure

Coronavirus (COVID-19) Update

April 9, 2021

Dear Starfish Families:

Spring is here, but we will not let the blue skies and warmer days trick us into thinking COVID-19 left with Old Man Winter.  We must remain committed to beating Coronavirus!  Unfortunately, COVID-19 is rising its ugly head, again.  COVID-19 cases and positive test are going up quickly.  One of our top priorities at Starfish Family Services is the “health & safety” for families, students, and staff.  Because of the surge of COVID-19, Early Childhood programs will:

  •  Not offer in-person programming, there will be virtual instruction only for the week of Monday, April 19, 2021.  This is a temporary change, we hope to see a decrease in COVID cases and positive test results, during this week.

  • Based on the COVID-19 data, we plan to return to face to face instruction, April 26, 2021.  We will continue to review the status of the COVID-19 and make decisions accordingly.

  • Families currently receiving food distributions will continue to pick up food at their centers on Friday 4/16 and Friday 4/23.

Help us keep your family and our family safe during this pandemic, by following the CDC guidance:

New opportunities:

  • The City of Detroit continues to expand vaccine eligibility for people living or working in the City of Detroit at the TCF center. Please click here for information about eligible groups and how to register.

• A new mass vaccination clinic at Ford Field will open on April 5th for anyone in Michigan 16 and older. Click here to register. Registration for this clinic is open and transportation/ride-sharing options will be available. Please share and promote this opportunity widely.

Keeping you informed is one of our other top priorities.  Please contact your center leader, the directors, or me with questions or concerns.
